Exceeding potential: Feeding the 5000 & Activities Week
Last Sunday鈥檚 Gospel from Luke recounted the Feeding of the Five Thousand (Lk 9:11-17). In this well-known extract, the Twelve Apostles were astounded that Jesus鈥 blessing enabled them to feed the huge crowd with only five loaves of bread and two fish, exclaiming that 鈥渁ll ate as much as they wanted, and when the scraps remaining were collected they filled twelve baskets鈥. We often underestimate how much is possible and what we are truly capable of until we stretch our boundaries and are willing to take responsible risks.
All students next week will be asked to move outside their 鈥榗omfort zones鈥 in some part of the amazing range of experiences within Activities Week. I look forward to joining each year level in one of their experiences at some stage as they meet our 2025 theme that 鈥渢he prime purpose of education is to help students exceed what they think is their potential鈥 (Hattie & Zierer, 2018).
